Perspective on issue occurring in society:
Gazprom rejected claims by environmental groups that their rig poses a threat to the Arctic environment. They deny allegations that their operations harm the sea of Antarctica (Pechora Sea) and say that they have professionally trained crews and members to handle any sea accidents that might occur because of them . Gazprom even thinks that in times, they demonstrate safety and reliability in the Arctic environment.
Reasons for perspective:
Gazprom’s oil spill response plan for the Prirazlomnaya oil platform has expired, meaning any drilling the company, including Gazprom , who undertakes in this part of the Arctic would be illegal according to Russian legislation. In their feedback, they do not confirm or deny anything about the legislation although, they did very firmly justify that they taking great care of the environment of the Arctic.
Gazprom firmly denies any accusation that their company is doing harm to the Arctic environment. The company is quite sure of themselves that their machinery, crews, all their actions are definitely doing no harm in the wildlife and environment of Antarctica. Their reasons for this are that they have professionally trained crews working on the ship and other evidence, they say, that came from Greenpeace. Gazprom says they have professional emergency response crew who work night and day, crews of the offshore ice-resistant stationary platform and support vessels trained under a dedicated program for emergency response and first aid in case of sea accidents. They released a statement listing the measures it had taken to ensure safety at the rig, the first to be deployed to any Arctic oil field. They also said that observations by the Greenpeace vessel Arctic Sunrise, which visited the area last week but did not take sample from the sea, proved there was no pollution around the rig.

Actions taken as a result of perspective:
In the reason for their perspective, they very firmly said that they were doing no harm to the environment of the Arctic seas. So they are continuing with their work now they have clarified themselves to the public that they their company is not resulting any sea accidents or oil spills. It’s kind of like they’re listening to themselves and not to the opinions of people around them, especially Greenpeace who have a different view on the topic. They will start drilling the first wells of the summer, but although Gazprom Neft Shelf said preparation of facilities for drilling of the first production well is "currently in progress," it did not clarify when drilling is actually due to start.
Reasons individual / group chose to take action using these methods:
Gazprom chose to act this way because they want to continue using and drill out Antarctica’s Oils for their use. They chose to justify that they do care about Antarctica’s environment and the harms that can happen as a result of Oil Drilling. By justifying the wrong thing, they’re lying to themselves also. They want to get it out to the public that they’re taking great care and they are considerate with Greenpeace so they come off as people who care about the environment and what will happen to it. They’re using the social action ‘Witness’. They’re making their beliefs on the issue public to again, get out that they care about the environment. However, they use only words and actions and think it is adequate and believable enough. There’s no proof of them actually taking great care in their actions except for the words they say to the public.
Impact on society of individual / group’s perspective:
Gazprom’s perspective has impacted on people differently. There are those who supporting them and who agree with their statements and what they say to the public, and there are some who completely differ with the company. Greenpeace is a perfect example. Greenpeace thinks that Gazprom isn’t even trying at all to save the slowly dying environment of Antarctica.
