Community Organizing:
For our Social Action, we chose to do ‘Community Organizing’ so that we can lessen Oil Spills in Antarctica along with other organizations such as Greenpeace.
Antarctica is one of the most important places in the whole world. People such as scientists use the clean and undiscovered land as a place full of discoveries and answers. However, this important land has become more and more surrounded by Oil Spills, Overfishing and other types of pollution. All these events can cause ice packs in the region to me, its food cycle harmed and many others which result because of the pollution in the region.
When we act out ‘Community Organizing’, we can find/support organizations and a majority of others who are concerned about Antarctica and its environment. My group and supporting organizations such as Greenpeace can inspire and gather others so we can have a larger amount of people helping to save the environment so we can have a greater chance of being heard and therefore to actually perform what we are intending to do. Imagine a world where we can't reach out and help or get help from others. We wouldn't be able to carry out our intentions to help. How can we save places in the earth (such as Antarctica) that are 'endangered' by global warming then?
We know that many, many things have and are continuing to affect Antarctica and some of these harmful things we cannot stop if we don’t work together as one. The things that an individual will do now might not make a great difference but if we, and others out in the world start carrying out our actions now, that’s when the change begins, that’s when we fully save Antarctica, its environment and species and show a brighter future for it. Our Social Action is just one small part of the long list we can do to save Antarctica.
